  6. OVERVIEW: ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  7.      The TurleyCode BBS Rating System, (TurleyCode, for short)
  8.      was developed for a quick identification of Electronic
  9.      Bulletin Board Systems by a simple Alpha-Numeric means.  The
  10.      BBS's "TurleyCode" would give the potential caller a brief
  11.      description of what they will find on that BBS.  Even
  12.      though, the TurleyCode BBS Rating System is copyrighted, all
  13.      may use it without payment.  All that is asked is that it is
  14.      not modified in any form without the expressed written
  15.      consent of David D. Turley.  This system is by no means all
  16.      inclusive.  It wasn't designed to be so.  It was designed to
  17.      give an idea of what type of system the user should expect.
  18. WHO MAY USE IT: ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  19.      Any BBS Sysop or BBS List maker may use this system for a
  20.      quick, and standard method for BBS designation.  Once again,
  21.      all that is asked is that it remain un-tampered with, so
  22.      that there will only be one version, and not multiple
  23.      versions.  The right of revision is held by the author,
  24.      David D. Turley, who may make revisions when necessary.
  25. USAGE: ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  26.      The code is from 3 to 5 digits in length.  The code consists
  27.      of 3 numerals, followed by anywhere from 0-2 alpha codes. 
  28.      The following are examples:

  33.      The code is quite simple, and will be explained presently:

  39. FILE CODES: ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  40.      0 - No File Area
  41.           No File areas are available on this system.  Uploading
  42.           and Download is not available.
  43.      1 - Downloads Only
  44.           Downloads are available on this system.  Uploads are
  45.           either discouraged or prohibited.
  46.      2 - Downloads & Uploads with Ratios
  47.           Uploads and Downloading are available.  Downloading may
  48.           be restricted because of Upload/Download Ratios or
  49.           other types of Ratios.
  50.      3 - Downloads & Uploads, no Ratios
  51.           Uploads and Downloads are available, generally
  52.           unrestricted.
  53.      4 - Uploads & Downloads & 1 CD-ROM On-Line
  54.           Same as "3", but with 1 CD-ROM Drive on-line.  System
  55.           may use multiple CD's, but only one is available at a
  56.           time.
  57.      5 - Uploads & Downloads & Multiple CD-ROMS On-Line
  58.           Same as "3", but with Multiple CD-ROM Drives on-line.
  59.      6 - Adult File Sections Available
  60.           Sysop has chosen to emphasize his selection of Adult
  61.           Oriented files (GIF, TXT, etc.) as well as Match-Making
  62.           downloads (GIF, TXT, etc.)
  63. MESSAGE CODES: ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  64.      0 - No Mail/Message Base
  65.           Board has no message base system available.
  66.      1 - Private Messages Only
  67.           Board has only private messages available.  No public
  68.           message may be left.
  69.      2 - Public & Private Messageing
  70.           Full public and private messageing can be left.
  71.      3 - Metro Net-Mail Only
  72.           Board participates in a Local (city-wide) Net-Mail
  73.           system.  
  74.      4 - National Net-Mail Only
  75.           Board participates in a National (or International)
  76.           Net-Mail system.
  77.      5 - Full Metro & National Net-Mail
  78.           Board participates in both Metro and National Net-Mail
  79.           Systems.
  80.      6 - Adult / Singles Message Bases Available
  81.           Board has an Adult Oriented or Singles Message Bases
  82.           available.  Board may also have Metro or National Net-
  83.           Mail capabilities, but it is not known for sure.
  84. DOOR CODES: ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  85.      0 - No Doors Available
  86.           The Sysop has chosen not to run any external doors on
  87.           his BBS.
  88.      1 - Games Only
  89.           This system has only games in the doors section.
  90.      2 - Off-Line Mail Door Only
  91.           This system has only Off-Line Mail doors in his
  92.           external program section.
  93.      3 - Off-Line Mail & Games
  94.           This system has both Off-Line Mail, and (1-9) Games
  95.           available.
  96.      4 - Off-Line Mail & 10-49 Games Available
  97.           This system is similar to Door-Code 3, but has 10-49
  98.           Games available.
  99.      5 - Off-Line Mail & 50+ Games Available
  100.           This system is similar to Door-Code 3, but has 50 or
  101.           more Games Available.
  102.      6 - Adult / Match Making Doors Available
  103.           The Sysop chose to emphasize his Match-Making or Adult
  104.           Oriented doors which are available on their system.
  105. ACCESS CODES: ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  106.      *** NOTE ***   If an access code is not listed in a Turley
  107.                     Code, then "A" is assumed.
  108.      A - Free Access
  109.           No charge is required to access most areas of this
  110.           system.  Any TurleyCode without any access code listed
  111.           is assumed to be this type of system.
  112.      B - Private Access Only
  113.           The BBS is primarily private, a small Free Access area
  114.           may exist, but is only a token area.
  115.      C - Paid Access Only
  116.           The BBS is primarily a paid access board, a small Free
  117.           Access area, or even a Test-Drive area may be
  118.           available.
  119.      D - Commercial/Government System, Free Access
  120.           Commercial or Government System, Similar to "A".
  121.      E - Commercial/Government System, Private Access
  122.           Commercial or Government System, Similar to "B".
  123.      F - Commercial/Government System, Paid Access
  124.           Commercial or Government System, Similar to "C".  Many
  125.           nation-wide On-Line services are in this category.
  126. MODIFIER CODES: ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  127.      *** NOTE ***   A Modifier Code is purely optional, and
  128.                     usually the discretion of the Sysop.  Valid
  129.                     Modifier Codes are only letters G-Z, with
  130.                     only the following currently defined. 
  131.                     Remember, only ONE Modifier code is to be
  132.                     added.
  133.      G - Gay/Bi/Lesbian Oriented
  134.           Topics may deal with Alternative Lifestyles.
  135.      I - Information Base Oriented
  136.           On-Line encyclopedias, Dictionaries, or other
  137.           Information Bases may be accessible.
  138.      P - Programmer Oriented System
  139.           Topics may deal with Computer Programming issues.
  140.      R - Religious Orientation
  141.           Topics may deal with a particular Religious sect.
  142.      S - Software Distribution and/or Support Board
  143.           This Board may be a Computer Software Distribution
  144.           site, or a Software Support Board.
  145.      T - Technical Oriented System
  146.           This Board may deal with Technical Hardware issues.
  147.      V - Call-Back Verifier
  148.           This system makes use of a Call-Back verifier for
  149.           access.
  150.      X - Adult/Match-Making Oriented
  151.           Topics may deal with Adult Oriented or Match-Making
  152.           material.

  162.      The Hard-Core Kitchen         Sysop chose to emphasize the

  164.      TurleyCode: 646BX             or Match-Making Doors, board
  165.                                    participates in a National
  166.                                    Net-Mail system, and is
  167.                                    Private with an Adult-Oriented
  168.                                    Modifier.

  170.      The Boring Board              This board has no file section
  171.      (xxx) xxx-xxxx, 300 bps       or doors, but does have a
  172.      TurleyCode: 020               message section with public &
  173.                                    private messages available.
  174.                                    Since no Access Code is given,
  175.                                    "A", or free access, is
  176.                                    assumed.
